My experience walking the journey with my two sons Darrin- ’13 and Dominique- ’15 through the West Des Moines Community School District and as a longtime community and business leader, and resident of West Des Moines, I have a vested interest in seeing the district continue to thrive and would like to help support the areas of growth. A culturally competent and healthy educational system is vital to a flourishing community.
The West Des Moines School District is made up of 13 buildings (8- Elementary, 2- Junior High, 1- 9th Grade High School, 1- 10-12 High School, and 1- 9-12 Alternative High School), approximately 9000 Students, and approximately 1200 Administrators, Teachers, and Staff. As a candidate I would be honored to serve this community.
Education is a fundamental foundation to life. Each and every member of the West Des Moines Community School District Ecosystem (Community, Administrators, Staff, Teachers, and Students) deserve to bring their authentic selves to work and school and as a Board member I would like to be that voice that champions for resources being available for all to succeed.
Campaign Areas of Focus:
I would like to continue working to build on the Districts strategic plan so that all students, staff, Administrators feel the WDSMCS is working with and for them.
Areas of focus:
Our buildings should be a place where all feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
Work to create a more robust sourcing strategy for Administration and Staff to enhance the representation of Diversity.
Improve WDSMCS communication strategy to help engage more families navigate.
I hope to serve and be an “Ally for All” in the WDSMCS Community and you will consider casting your vote for me on November 5th.
